A little about me...
Hi, I'm Susan
I am originally from Cornwall and regularly return to the beautiful motherland to see family and enjoy time by the sea.
After going to university in Cardiff, I worked in London for over a decade before moving north.
I currently live in Greater Manchester, not far from the Pennines, where you will find me wandering the hills when I am not typing away on my laptop.
Writing, and particularly feature writing, is all I wanted to do.
As a teenager, I was obsessed with magazines (and still have my first Mizz magazine...)
After a slight detour in the shape of a Law and Italian degree, I did a post-grad NCTJ course and returned to my first love by joining PA Media in 2005.
For 12 years, I was part of the features team, writing, pitching, commissioning and editing across print and digital formats.
Although I specialised in film and TV, I wrote about all sorts of subjects (health, topicals, travel...).
No two days were the same and in that respect it was a dream job, one that allowed me to travel the world, interview some of the biggest names and experience unforgettable moments.
In 2017, I decided to take the leap and go freelance, which is what I continue to do, working as a print and digital journalist for a wide range of titles.
I am not averse to throwing myself into uncomfortable situations in the name of work (a climbing harness, for one), but as much as I embrace doing a first-person take, I will forever enjoy chatting to people, hearing about their experiences and sharing their stories.
Thanks for stopping by.
